POETRY
Back to PoemsTo the Artist
Go, then, artist!
Leap into that white canvas.
Become the paint,
The painter,
The painted,
And leave behind
The ones who doubt
The magic of camel-hair colors;
Feather wisps of imagination
Drawn from a deeper well.
Be, then, sculptor!
Reach into that marble slab.
Become the stone,
The chisel,
The hammer,
And mirror back
Those endless eyes
That see things as they really are;
Create the likeness of liquid dream
To soothe with satin stares.
